5 Ways to Start Your Day to Maximize Productivity

Starting your day right is crucial to maximize productivity.

Most times you have so many things lined up to do in a day but you find yourself lazing in bed, finding it difficult to get out of it and start your day.

That is why people with great morning habits are usually very disciplined because it’s not easy to maintain or develop a morning routine when sleeping is so cool.

Getting out of bed is the first process and then you can easily cut through other necessary routines to get you fast awake and active.

A morning routine was hard for me at first, even when I had kids, I still struggled so hard to get out of bed not until I coincidentally developed a meditation habit.

Now its a little easier!

I know it could be a lot, it could also be easier said than done, but not impossible, and it’s actually enjoyable if you get into the process.

The first thing you do when you get out of bed matters a lot. I mean, when you reach for your phone when you first get out of bed, that could be an extra 30 to 40 minutes being unproductive.

Time could easily elapse and you find yourself with so many things to do and very little time.

I personally realized when I take carbohydrates as the first thing I put into my mouth, it digests poorly and my energy level does take a downturn.

Although it is a serious bodily shift because it wasn’t like this when I was much younger.

In my younger days, carbohydrates gave me a lot of energy and boosted my mental Capacity but now, protein does the trick for me or a shot of vitamin C.

Some people do better when they exercise immediately after getting out of bed. I’ve also seen people who claim they are more productive when they sniff flowers after getting out of bed.

Aside from the quick energy boost, some people drink lemon water as a daily morning laxative to help prevent constipation. Drinking warm or hot lemon water when you wake up may help get your digestive system moving.

Ayurvedic medicine says the sour lemon taste helps stimulate your “Agni.” In ayurvedic medicine, a strong agni jump-starts the digestive system, allowing you to digest food more easily and helping to prevent the buildup of toxin- “Healthline”

2. Meditation

It’s easy to fall into the habit of hitting the snooze button to catch some extra sleep or glancing at emails to start the day.

However, when you go back to sleep you usually end up feeling more tired than when you first woke up.

And if you look at your phone, forget it; there goes your day. You start working, thinking about all the stuff you have to do, and your mind starts its race of nonstop planning and organizing.

A morning meditation will set the tone for your entire day and help you to be focused, content, and optimistic. Try to set aside 15 minutes a day first thing in the morning. If you need to, start with five minutes and work your way up- “Onemedical”

Journaling first thing in the morning is a very powerful habit that helped me to become a happier, more grateful human being, stay focused, goals oriented and get a calm, clear mind.

Not only does this incredible activity fit well in the moment, but it also trains you to actively look for positive moments, experiences and events during the day that makes you happy and grateful.

Over time, this practice will turn you into a happier, more positive person, as you become more focused on the positive things in life instead of only the negatives.
