Each month, there are ten things that I like to do at the beginning of each month in order to help me stay organized and motivated. I think it will be really helpful to other people too. This post is going to be a one-stop-shop for finding inspiration and helping yourself stay on track.
What I hate most about the beginning of each month is that I’m feeling so overwhelmed and under-motivated with no clear direction. It’s hard to get started because there are so many things that I need to do, and don’t want to do, even though they’re often related. It’s also hard to keep up with my goals and the projects that I’m working on.
So having a clear monthly goal is the best way to get organized every month and slay your goals.

1. Review Your previous Goals
Every month, take a step back to examine and reassess your goals. You should already have established a set of goals that you worked on in the previous month. Look at them and decide how far you’ve come since the first day of that month. Think about what you need to improve upon, and make those revisions to your plans for this month.
2. Celebrate Your Accomplishments
Each month ends with a review of how well you performed towards your goals for that 30-day period just passed. If you reached a milestone or met a goal at the end of each month, then you should celebrate and reflect on how far you’ve come!
3. Check Your Bank Account
Ideally the 1st of every month, you should check your bank account and make sure it has sufficient funds for the month ahead.
Plan Your Meals – One way to save money is to have a plan in place before grocery shopping. Make a list of what you need and don’t be afraid to get creative with foods or even meals you can make with pantry staples.
Update Your Budget – Now that your bank account has been checked, it’s time to update your budget. See where you’re spending the most money and figure out a way to cut back. For example, if eating out is your weakness, maybe this month you can make more meals at home using budget-friendly ingredients.
Create a Savings Plan – At the beginning of each month, take some time to plan how you’re going to save for something significant like a vacation or a new car down payment. This can help push your savings goals into high gear.
If you don’t have a checking account, you can still check your bank account online. It’s useful for seeing how much money you made this month and what expenses made up the rest of it.
4. Calculate How Much You Should Save Each Month
This one is easier if you already have an idea of what your monthly expenses will be. Just plug it in on personal finance software like Mint, or use this calculator to help determine your savings goal and how much to put aside each month. 5. Set New Goals
Set goals that are just as high as your previous ones. Don’t settle for any less than your best. You should set goals that are challenging but doable.
6. Clean Out Your Inbox
Take a look at your email inbox at the beginning of each month. We’re all guilty of having an overly-stuffed inbox, so take some time to prioritize and organize your emails. Delete any unwanted emails, unsubscribe from any newsletters you’re not reading, and file any important documents in relevant folders for quick access later on.
7. Complete Any Ongoing Tasks
No matter how long it’s been since you last finished your work, every task has been recorded in your Inbox. If you’re one of those people who can’t leave things for the next day, it’s important to go through all of these notes and complete any ongoing tasks. Don’t want to be bothered with them again next month? Maybe pull it out for the upcoming week so that you are better organized.
8. Make Plans For an Outstanding Birthday, Anniversary or Holiday
You should take note of upcoming birthdays and anniversaries in the new month so that you can plan to attend the special event or day. Plan a special movie outing or day trip to someplace that you haven’t experienced before.
Go one on one with someone like an old friend or a relative who can give you valuable advice and help with your tough life situation. Find a way to cheer up yourself when you feel down. Try to make your life more interesting by going to an interesting and exciting place, like the theme park, book store, the beach or any other place that you have never experienced before.
9. Plan an Outing With Friend Or Family
If you’re looking to treat yourself each month, plan a day out with friends or family. You can get tickets for a concert, or enjoy some time at a museum. Plan an event that will make the end of this month memorable!
10. Make A List of Things You Need To Do for Next Month
At the end of each month, you should make a list of the things you need to do for the next month.
1) Plan Your Goals for the Month
2) Make a list of things you want to do for your job or business
3) Create a list of goals and tasks that will make progress towards those goals.
4) Make a list of tasks that have to be completed by the end of the week, or list what you’ve accomplished so far this month. This will remind you what is coming up this month and help motivate you during the day.
