Solids and Stripes
The large porch of this newly refurbished New York mansion only required new flooring and paint to transform it from ominous to airy. The owner painted the ceiling a gentle blue-green color in response to the myth that bees would be repelled by a light blue ceiling.
Apply A Vibrant Color Accent
Bright cherry red double doors on the upstate New York farmhouse designed by Chango & Co. of New York City give the porch’s black and white color scheme more contrast. It is cozy and functional thanks to a pair of matching black sconce lights, red side tables, gray throw blankets, and matching black rocking rockers with red-and-black check throw cushions.
Glorious White farmhouse front porch
By Becca Interiors, this quaint Hudson River Colonial front porch features straightforward seating areas with conventional furniture that complements the design and black-and-white color scheme of the front. The area is softened by a few potted plants scattered about, but the view via the next porch is still open for taking in the water.
White Wooden Crates with Planters in Galvanized Buckets
This porch accessory is quite easy to add. A few painted wooden crates can be used as a little elevated stand for flower buckets. To complete the look, hang a magnificent grapevine floral wreath on the door.

Hardwood furnishings and an antique sleigh table
This adorable little coffee table is constructed from painted wood slats or perhaps an old table that was rotated on a sleigh. With tall ferns, galvanized accents, and white all throughout, a lovely antique farmhouse porch is created.

Include a vintage bicycle and a flower-filled basket.
This vintage bicycle in bright white is a timeless design that looks excellent with a wicker basket full of vibrantly colored fresh flowers. This appears organic, laid-back, and enjoyable in a retro or vintage-inspired setting.

Summer accessories for porch decor
Add outdoor-friendly decor as an accessory. Candles, lanterns, and string lights enhance the ambiance and can be used to make a warm environment in the evening. Also adding color and comfort are outdoor rugs and pillows. I adore placing a more practical doormat on top of a rug with a bold color or pattern. Traditional Wicker Accents and Furnishings
To me, nothing says antique more than white wicker on a porch. This is the pinnacle of traditional Southern design and is perfect for bringing basic elegance to your porch while still being utilitarian as a place to lounge.
Croquet Games of the Past by Antique Scale Planter
This outfit combines a variety of vintage pieces. The ancient vintage scale with a few succulents, in my opinion, is the real showpiece. A vintage croquet set in a wire basket is also a nice accent.

Simple Steps
Chango & Co. designed it; Jacob Snavely took the picture. Slate flooring, an open design, and two black rocking chairs in the Scandinavian style positioned on either side of the front entrance give this minimalist front porch from Chango & Co. a finished appearance.
Color and Pattern
Maestri Studio designed it, and Nathan Schroder took the picture. If you don’t intend to use it, there’s little purpose in furnishing a sizable front porch with outdoor furniture. This Maestri Studio front porch is designed more for aesthetic appeal than practicality. It features dramatic cement tile flooring, well-kept plants, and fresh mint green paint on the ornate double doors to break up the monotone black-and-white scheme.
Hanged Moroccan Lanterns
Marie Flanigan Interiors designed it, and Julie Soefer took the picture. A straightforward seat and a series of Moroccan lamps with perforations in this Spanish-style front porch from Marie Flanigan Interiors create striking shadows when illuminated.
Warm Lighting
Lisa Gilmore designed it, and Seamus Payne took the picture. In order to make your front porch feel cozy and friendly for onlookers and visitors as they approach the front door, be sure to put enough lighting equally distributed throughout the front (and sides, if you have a wraparound porch). And to make it glow like this front porch from Lisa Gilmore Design, use warm lighting rather than chilly, harsh lighting.
Colorful Deck Chairs
Design by Searl Lamaster Howe / Photo by Tony Soluri
A refuge built by Chicago-based Searl Lamaster Howe on the outskirts of a state park in central Michigan has a shady front porch covered in both untreated and burned cedar and obsidian lap siding. A stack of firewood is protected by the porch canopy, and two rose-colored deck chairs give a cozy splash of color.

Indoor/Outdoor Garden
Design by Hamsa Home
A midcentury modern-inspired cactus garden on this recently constructed front porch by Hamsa House is carried into the front entry and divided by a sizable pane of glass to give the appearance of an indoor/outdoor garden.
Use dried flowers to decorate
The warm porch light, the welcome mat, and two huge bunches of dried flowers flanking the door are just a few of the golden elements that warm up this snow-white front porch from Leanne Ford Interiors.
Employ contemporary furniture
Modern furniture and a sizable potted cactus on this front porch from Martha O’Hara Interiors provide a seating space that complements the design of the house.
Employ French doors
In contrast to the shingle siding, the front porch entrance to a historic restoration and design project by Allison Babcock Design on Nantucket, Massachusetts features glass-paned French doors and straightforward painted white railings.
Decorative Ceiling
Tim Furlong Jr.
Indeed, colored pillows and chairs are attractive enough on their own. But instead of staying the course, why not add a painted ceiling? We adore this brilliant, original concept.
Chairs that rock
Helen Norman
Rockers are among the most popular furniture options for front porches for a reason: They can withstand the weather, don’t need much padding, and are also enjoyable and soothing.
Inflorescence Porch

Nancy Fishelson, a regular contributor to Country Living, has a long-standing preference for whites and neutrals. Yet to balance out her upstate New York front porch, the makeover whiz welcomes visitors with vivid hydrangeas and complementary topiaries.

A retro pendant light, painted moldings, arched windows, and classic proportions are all features of this lovely front porch from BASE Landscape Design. Simple pale wood seats on either side provide a contemporary touch and a useful area for putting on shoes, resting a farmers market purchase, or waiting for the locksmith to arrive when you lock yourself out of the house.
Design by Brophy Interiors
The modest overhang on this front porch from Laura Brophy Interiors has built-in can lights, saving space on the compact front and enabling a larger window. A basic wooden bench provides additional seats.

If your front porch is visible from the street, you should also think about what the view is like for onlookers. Your front porch design should seem friendly and comfortable for friends and guests.
This front porch from Lindye Galloway Studio + Shop
has an open layout and a seating area with two neutral-colored chairs and a hanging porch swing that integrates with the home’s front landscaping and exterior for a well-kept modern appearance.
Faux Painted Floor Runner
Blogger KariAnne Wood of Thistlewood Farms added a fake painted floor runner with a traditional checkerboard design to her modern farmhouse front porch to give some graphic black-and-white punch.

It’s a win-win situation, she says, to install a new door with a glass insert because it improves the home’s exterior look while simultaneously letting in extra light. For a unified appearance, El Sanyoura suggests picking a front door that matches the house’s architecture.

According to Loya, “you can tint the glass inserts in your door with reflective glass film, or you can even have the panels replaced with tinted, reflective glass for a more permanent application.” She adds that it’s important to get in touch with your neighborhood glass company to determine which option is best for your requirements.

Eilla Adi Design’s Eilla Pradier Tile, wood, and stone are all fantastic choices. More points are awarded if you can seamlessly link the front porch and the front door of the house by having the flooring coordinate with the interiors

Make use of patterned tiles. Whether you choose a subdued or striking tile color scheme, it will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact. For his own house, Dallas-based architect Eddie Maestri, founder and creative director of Maestri Studio, selected a geometric black-and-white tile “that is a dramatic statement complimenting the otherwise modest and plain exterior.”

Imaginative concrete use Replace the outdated concrete on the front patio with pavers, which are flat slabs of stone or concrete that are often square in shape. Because of their affordability and variety of possibilities, concrete porches are highly popular, according to Loya. For added interest, “You can even try concrete overlays that give tinting, stamping, or etching applications.”

A porch ceiling painted You already know that painting a room can radically change the look and feel of a space, and it’s also a budget-friendly choice that can impress without requiring a major renovation. A light blue ceiling is said to keep insects away. Even if your front porch is covered, search for an exterior paint that is weatherproof and lasting.

enclose the porch Loya, who personally prefers decks with a darker stain because they provide a clean, fresh look, believes that decking is very wonderful and that it can really be constructed over an existing porch. Try using IKEA decking tiles to fully transform your front porch as a weekend project.

Why not combine wood for a distinctive front porch design? Designers have been fusing metals. Choose furniture with a variety of wood heritages and serve as an anchor with rich mahogany.

Make a plan Take use of your front porch to include patterns and color schemes into the overall design of your porch. If your house has a pool, adding a few cabana stripes can remind guests of the Hollywood Regency that might be within.

Even on your front porch, installing sconces is a crucial consideration, but for many people, it is frequently an afterthought.
